On October 20, 2022, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) held their 10th Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Summit.

Tagbilaran City, in the province of Bohol, was ranked 29th in the component cities category.

The most competitive component city in the Visayas is still Tagbilaran.

The department heads were honored by the city mayor, Jane Yap, for their devotion and hard work.

"This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the city government. The sound fiscal management of the city has also been a game changer for Tagbilaran City. The local executive thanked the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) and said this recognition is a testament to the focus and commitment of the City Government to deliver relevant public service”, Mayor Jane said.

Executive Order No. 44 established the National Competitiveness Council to enhance the competitiveness of the Philippines and foster a culture of excellence via public-private sector cooperation as a way to combat poverty through inclusive growth.

Based on an overall competitiveness score, cities and municipalities are rated according to their level of competitiveness.

The values of the actual data and the completeness of the data given by local government entities are used to calculate scores.
