Three more soldiers who died in the plane crash in Sulu last July have been identified, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Sunday.

This brings the total number of identified remains to 37, the AFP said in a statement.

Report from authorities confirmed the identities of Corporal Jerome Balivado, Private Joey Loterte, and Private Kevin Damole. They were all from the Philippine Army.

“The AFP through Western Mindanao Command has already reached out to the families of the deceased and is now arranging for the immediate transport of the cadavers to their hometowns,” the military said.

The AFP also said that 13 remains are still undergoing the “tedious” process of identification.

Ninety-six military personnel were aboard the C-130 plane, with tail number 5125, when it crashed in Barangay Bangkal in Patikul town and burst into flames. The aircraft overshot the runway while trying to land at the airfield in Jolo.

Most of the passengers of the plane had recently graduated from basic military training.

The incident, which was dubbed as one of the country’s worst military air disasters, also killed three civilians on the ground.
