With original plan nixed, Seoul Samsung signs another Pinoy in Christian David

5:52 pm on 22 September 2022, Thursday

With the bid to bring Will Navarro as its import botched, the Seoul Samsung Thunders have decided to go with another Filipino.

The Thunders have instead signed Filipino-Canadian Christian David as their player under the Asian Quota system, the club announced on Thursday.

In getting David, Seoul Samsung gains a two-way forward who stands at 6-foot-6.

David played in the US NCAA for Butler University.

Navarro was barred from joining the Korean club after the national federation said that his rights remain with the Gilas Pilipinas and NorthPort Batang Pier in the Philippine Basketball Association.

The Gilas cadet on Thursday also requested a release from the Samahang Baskebol ng Pilipinas and his mother PBA club, ahead of his contract’s expiration on March 2023.

David traces his lineage to two full-blooded Filipino parents.

The Thunders play Changwon LG this coming Oct. 16.
