For many Filipino households, pets are part of everyday life. They share living spaces, routines, and increasingly, family traditions. Royal Canin Community Weekend 2025 leaned into that reality, bringing pet owners together not for spectacle, but for practical conversations on care, nutrition, and responsibility.
Held over two days at Eastwood Open Plaza in Quezon City, the event gathered families, veterinarians, trainers, and advocates around a shared goal: helping pets live healthier lives through informed decisions.
Organized by Royal Canin, the weekend opened with a relaxed community pet walk led by UP MV K9 and Hound Haven PH. The walk set the tone for what followed, a mix of learning and interaction that felt accessible even to first time pet parents.
Instead of long lectures, the program focused on short talks and hands on activities. Mini classes covered dog psychology, responsible ownership, and the importance of choosing nutrition based on a pet’s specific needs. During a media roundtable on the first day, Royal Canin Scientific Communication Manager Dr. Everlyn Austria addressed a timely concern as the holidays approach. “
Pets actually get pancreatitis especially around the holidays, we have to be careful giving them scraps or any food. I don't recommend giving them Noche Buena food to them, I recommend just give them their own treats, specifically made for them., so they are not jealous of what you are eating.”
The discussion also touched on challenges faced by condominium based pet owners. Dr. Austria recommended indoor, low activity pet food options, along with toys and simple equipment that encourage movement and enrichment even in smaller spaces. These suggestions reflected a broader theme of the weekend, adjusting care based on lifestyle rather than forcing pets into routines that do not fit their environment.
That approach was reinforced by Ann Madelene Garcia, Pet Specialty Retails Head for Royal Canin, who shared that “ Royal Canin is really advocating tailor nutrition.” Throughout the event, experts emphasized how factors such as age, breed, size, and daily activity should guide feeding decisions.
Beyond education, the Community Weekend offered practical support. Pet owners who purchased Royal Canin products received complimentary veterinary consultations and basic grooming services. A rehoming area, organized with partner breeders, helped cats and dogs find new families, highlighting the importance of responsible adoption. There was also a sustainability booth where guests were encouraged to recycle clean, empty Royal Canin bags, connecting pet care with small but meaningful environmental actions.
Families with children were equally considered. Storybook readings of Welcome Home, Rocky & Charlie! and interactive games introduced younger attendees to empathy and responsible pet ownership in simple, engaging ways. Games, trivia, and a passport challenge added light moments throughout the weekend without overshadowing its educational focus.
