The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has launched a campaign against fake news and organized troll armies to protect the integrity of the 2025 elections.

DICT Secretary Henry Aguda on Wednesday said the agency is working closely with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to strengthen election technology, including Configuration Hubs, real-time results platforms, and registration status verification tools.

The DICT’s Cybersecurity Bureau is also conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to secure digital infrastructure. Aguda emphasized the use of Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) digital certificates for electoral board teachers to protect data integrity and confidentiality.

Aguda welcomed efforts by tech giants like Tiktok, Google, and Meta to ban paid political ads. Google has already implemented its ban, aligning with the campaign for clean and credible elections.

On Tuesday, DICT convened the Comelec Advisory Council in Taguig City to discuss digital election systems and policy recommendations ahead of the 2025 national and local polls.
