Following a strengthened campaign against such weapons, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion in Central Visayas (RMFB-7) seized at least 93 unregistered firearms.
Police Lt. Col. Ronan Claravall, commander of the RMFB-7 unit, stated on Friday that they started the campaign to stop unlicensed firearms from being utilized in any criminal activity.
He claimed that since taking office in August of this year, Philippine National Police (PNP) General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. had made the measure one of his main priorities.
Nine improvised shotguns, 54.38 revolvers, two 9mm revolvers, ten caliber 22 revolvers, six.45 pistols, ten caliber 5.56 revolvers-frontier, and a 7.62 rifle were among the 93 stray firearms that were seized and turned in.
Claravall claimed that their main goals were to continue executing "Oplan Katok," a PNP program that entails doing house-to-house visits on people thought to be the owners of loose firearms and underlining their campaign against such weapons.
He claimed that people who turned in their guns would receive assistance from the police, working with the local government units (LGUs).
The five maneuver companies that make up the RMFB-7 are the 701st in Bogo City, the 702nd in the City of Loon in the Province of Bohol, the 703rd in Mantalongon, Dalaguete, Cebu, the 704th in Mabinay, and the 705th in Sta.
