After seeing his siblings Karl Drew and Elaiza win medals at the recently held JRC Artistic Gymnastics Stars Championships in Bangkok, Carlos Yulo was beaming with pride and joy.
Karl Eldrew took the silver medal in the men's all-around, while Elaiza won the women's competition.
Karl Edrew, a ninth-grade student at Adamson University, won gold in the floor exercise, silver medals in the pommel horse and horizontal bar, and bronze in the rings.
Elaiza, on the other hand, won gold medals in the floor exercise, uneven bars, and vault.
During a recent radio interview, the two-time world champion could not help but gush about the two.
“I saw the selfie with their medals, and as a kuya, I saw their routines, and comparing Eldrew to me at that age, he’s miles ahead,” Yulo said.
The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines is already preparing both gymnasts for training abroad.
After Karl Eldrew's stint in the 2024 Paris Olympics, head coach of the Japanese artistic gymnastics team Hiroaki Sato plans to take him under his wing and have him practice in Australia.
Elaiza will train in the United States even though the specifics are still being worked out.
Yulo desires his siblings to realize their goals and discover a deeper purpose for their activities.
