Paeng death toll climbs to 156, injured 141

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday that fatality count due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng  (international name: Nalgae) has risen to 156.

Based on its latest situational report, the NDRRMC said   authorities have so far confirmed 121 killed while they continue to validate 35 of these reported deaths.

The report also showed that 141 were hurt due to the powerful storm while authorities are on the lookout for 37 missing people.

The number of affected population also continued to rise, as seen at the latest report that put them at more than 4.6 million individuals across the country.

As of Sunday, 107,343 affected people or 26,731 families remained in 954 evacuation centers, while 920,586 people or 325,664 families opted to take shelter outside these facilities.

Meanwhile, the damage Paeng wrought to infrastructure all over the country now stood at P4,309,850,765.88.

Paeng, that pounded Luzon last weekend, also caused an estimated worth of damage on crops and agriculture sector of P2,989,090,147.535.
