NDRRMC: Over 10k affected by Obet

THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday that more than 10,000 individuals were affected by Tropical Depression Obet.

According to the latest situation report of the NDRRMC 9,974 of the affected residents came from 51 villages from the Cagayan Valley. 

There are 249 families of some 800 individuals also affected in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR),.

While there are 120 people or 35 families affected in Ilocos Region.

The NDRRMC also said that there are 518 displaced people or 155 families who are currently at 10 evacuation centers.

A total of 746 displaced people or 189 families were staying outside of evacuation centers.

The report also said that there are 1,063 individuals or 331 families that were preemptively evacuated in Cagayan Valley due to Obet.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said that a total of P66,570 worth of assistance were provided to affected residents in Ilocos Region and CAR.

NDRRMC spokesperson Assistant Secretary Bernardo Alejandro IV in a radio interview said that there are no no reported casualties yet due to Obet. 

They likewise confirmed thay the earlier reported deaths of the two other fatalities were caused by a different weather disturbance. 

The storm exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday.
