NBI on Lapid’s ‘middleman’: No injuries but possible heart problem

The finding of an autopsy conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) showed there were no external physical injuries on the alleged middleman in Percy Lapid's killing but instead suffered from a heart problem.

In a consolidated initial report on the death of Jun Villamor from Task Force Villamor, there was no gunshot wound, no recovery, and no apparent sign of external physical injury.

Medico-legal officer Marivic Villarin-Floro cited in the memo that the alleged middleman may have had a previous heart illness as the “heart showed a hemorrhagic area over the left ventricle. The mitral valve is sclerotic, which could indicate previous illnesses or valvular infection.”

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla reported on Thursday, October 18, that Villamor passed away.

On the report, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was done for 35 minutes but the alleged middleman was pronounced dead at the New Bilibid Prison Hospital on October 18 at 2:05 p.m.,

The dead body was received in the morgue of Eastern Funeral Homes on the same day at 8:11 p.m.

In addition, the neck and its internal structures were also examined and dissected, but the findings were “unremarkable.”

Villamor also tested “negative” on the COVID-19 rapid antigen test.

The NBI medico-legal team concluded that the “pronouncement of death is consistent with the time of death” based on the post-mortem lividity or the settling of blood in the thorax, particularly on the shoulders and on the left lower extremity.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Friday that the middleman’s death is a natural cause or “no signs of foul play.”

A toxicology report on Villamor’s body has yet to be released.
