Cop driving recovered motorcycle nabbed in Bulacan

Members of the anti-scalawag unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested an active police officer of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office (PPO) for using a recovered motorcycle vehicle declared as evidence.

In a statement Friday, Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) chief Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon said Patrolman Marvin Salim, designated as an Intel Operative of Obando Municipal Police Station, Bulacan PPO, Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon), 40, was arrested during law enforcement operation on Tuesday evening in front of convenience store at Joaquin St., Brgy. Pag-asa, Obando, Bulacan by the joint elements of team Southern Police District (SPD), National Capital Region Field Unit and Team 3 of Luzon Field Unit, together with other PNP units. 

De Leon said Salim has been monitored after being reported to be using a recovered motorcycle, which was declared as evidence and described as one Yamaha- Sniper motorcycle, color blue, with MV File Number 1303-082277. 

The said motorcycle was evidence as indicated in the spot report of Obando Municipal Police Station dated October 2, 2020. In addition, IMEG agents discovered that the suspect had been regularly using the said motorcycle as if it was his own.

The arrested cop shall be subjected to inquest proceedings before the Office of DOJ, Manila, for filing appropriate charges for violating R.A. 11235 of the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act. 

The suspect is currently detained at IMEG-NHQ, Custodial Facility at Camp Crame, Quezon City, for his temporary custody.
