The Muntinlupa City government plans to open a helpdesk to help overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and their families.

The city council previously allowed Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to establish the OWWA Helpdesk in the city.

Under the agreement, the helpdesk that would be run by OWWA and the city government's Public Employment Service Office (PESO) would be "providing easier access for OFWs and in the south" of Metro Manila "to its range of services," according to the city government.

The said services would include the facilitation of training, healthcare and overall welfare promotion, and integration with their families.

Biazon and OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio signed the MOA at the Muntinlupa City hall on Wednesday, October 13.

Aside from the MOA signing rites, Ignacio also gave financial assistance worth P20,000 to each of the 15 returning OFWs.

In his speech, Ignacio said he would "make sure Munti OFWs will feel the positive impact of OWWA's programs, such as the Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay! Program."

Aside from OWWA, national government agencies like the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) have established their satellite offices in Muntinlupa City aiming to bring closer to residents their services.
