Celebrity doctor Vicki Belo revealed her battle with stage 3 breast cancer in 2016, with doctors saying she wouldn't survive it.
In an interview with broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez, Belo shared that she sought treatments in Europe and New York and was told not to try chemotherapy because she would die in two years.
"I went to Europe for treatment, so I kind of disappeared for a year and a half to two years. I was told I was going to die. 'Don't bother to have chemo, just fix your affairs, you're dead in two years," she narrated.
"I went to New York but they wouldn't give me anything, so I asked, 'What are my chances?' and they were very quiet—' We'll try our best'," she added.
Belo went on to say that her husband, fellow cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho, and their daughter, Scarlet Snow, who was one year old, were why she kept going amid those dark times.
"I really look at her, and I want to be with her, and I don't want to leave her naman so young," Belo said. "I keep praying, Lord, 'please give me time," she added.
Belo and Kho tied the knot in 2017 and welcomed their daughter, Scarlet, via surrogacy in 2015.
Belo is reportedly cancer-free after several chemotherapy sessions and said she now prioritizes her health and well-being.
"Nakikita niyo yung Instagram, akala niyo yung life namin perfect. Wala talagang perfect na buhay. Lagi niyong hanapin yung ganda sa buhay niyo. (You see our Instagram [and] you think our life is perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect life. Always look for the beauty in your life). Health is wealth, so now that’s really my thing," she concluded.
