The international triathlon event, Alveo 70.3 Ironman, will return to Davao City on March 26, 2023, at the Azuela Cove in Lanang, Davao City.

To make the event more exciting and memorable, the organizer and the host city have both decided to give a special award to the winner of the team event of the widely popular international triathlon event.

Princess Galura, Sunrise Events General Manager who organized the event, said the award would be called the Tribu Maisugon Award to honor the 11 tribes of Davao City.

Galura said the team with the fastest combined time of the top 11 finishers would win the award and P500,000.00 in cash.

She said they are excited to bring back the hugely successful swim and bike event next year for its third edition.

"We are grateful to the Davao City government for allowing us to host another triathlon event in the city," Galura said during the Ironman 2023 press briefing on Wednesday, September 28, at the
 Azuela Cove.

Galura said while the return of the triathlon event has officially started this year, they decided to calendar it for next year to
celebrate the founding anniversary of Davao City.

She revealed that aside from the regular triathlon event, there would be a triathlon event for kids and a running event for women.

Davao City mayor Sebastian Duterte who also graced the press conference, is very happy to return to the triathlon event after three years of waiting since it would bring income to the city's tourism department.

"Thank you to the organizers for allowing Davao City to host Ironman next year," Duterte said.

Dabawenyo artist Kublai Millan, who designed the medals for the past two editions of the sports event, will create the medals for the winners next year.

“Next year's theme is oneness, wherein we celebrate our unity as a people of Davao City," Millan said.
