Manila mayor Honey Lacuna said the city would give student allowance to senior high school students and college students in the city.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Lacuna said the city would release a P500 allowance to all senior high school students in the city.

The city will also release a P1,000 allowance to students of city-run Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Unibersidad de Manila.

But the student allowance only covered the months of May and June.

Lacuna said the grant is part of the city’s P117 million social amelioration program for students in Manila.

She appealed to the students to strive for their education as they received the allowance.

“Ang atin po lamang pakiusap sa lahat ng mga benepisyaryo ay lalong magpunyagi, magpursigeng makatapos ng pag-aaral. Ugaliin ring makinig sa turo ng inyong mga guro at sumunod sa payo ng inyong mga magulang (Our only request is that the beneficiaries succeed and strive to finish their studies. Listen to the lessons of your teachers and follow the advice of your parents),” Lacuna said.

“Makakaasa po kayo na ang inyong Pamahalaang Lungsod ay patuloy na gumagawa ng paraan para paginhawain ang pamumuhay ng bawat Pamilyang Manilenyo (Rest assure that the city government will continue to find ways to give comfort to the lives of every family in Manila),” she added.
