Over 100,000  fish fingerlings have been released into Laguna Lake as part of the Taguig River Festival celebration this year.

Together with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Mayor Lani Cayetano and Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit released varieties of fingerlings like tilapia excel, red tilapia, ulang or giant freshwater prawn,  maliputo (giant trevally),
ayungin (silver perch), and bangus (milkfish) on July 22.

Cayetano assured that the city government would continue to support the fishermen in the city and the whole agricultural sector.

On July 24, The celebration of the Taguig River Festival 2022 became more vibrant with the Musical Parade.

The drum and lyre corps paraded the streets of Brgy. Wawa, Brgy. Bambang, Brgy. Tuktukan, and Brgy. Sta. Ana.

The residents even danced on the streets.

The festivities take off from the Santa Anang Banak Festival, centered on the Taguig River and St. Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary and patroness of the city.

Folk legend says that in 1587, Taguig, then known as "pook mg mga taga-giik," plunged into crisis after farmers lost all their harvests. Amid their despair, Saint Anne and the little girl Mary appeared, leading them to the river, suddenly teeming with "banak" (mullet).

The occurrence has been celebrated every July, concluding in a fluvial parade on the 26th, the saint's feast.
