A somehow positive development for CJ Cansino and the Fighting Maroons.

Cansino is listed as probable in University of the Philippines’ upcoming game against La Salle in the UAAP Season 84 men’s basketball Final Four.

UP Fighting Maroons program director Bo Perasol revealed the preliminary injury report, saying that Cansino was able to perform some drills.

“Bone bruising and minimal/manageable swelling on the knee,” said Perasol. “He is able to do some movement drills and we will check again later in practice.”

“His ability to practice or play will be decided upon by our medical team and coaching staff. We are still awaiting the official reading of the MRI.”

On Sunday, the 6-foot-2 swingman sustained the injury during the fourth period in UP’s game against the Ateneo Blue Eagles.

Cansino had to be stretchered off the court, although he was able to walk on his own, heading into the team’s bench in the final minutes of the matchup.

He finished the game with 11 points as UP prevailed over Ateneo.

The second-seeded Fighting Maroons hold a twice-to-beat advantage against the third-seeded La Salle, with the Final Four event on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
