Anusorn "Tai" Bundit has resigned from his post as the assistant coach of the national women’s volleyball team, citing the spike COVID-19 cases in his hometown Thailand behind his departure with the team.

According to Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) official Tonyboy Liao, the Thailand mentor stressed that he cannot concentrate on coaching while worrying about the health and safety of his family in Thailand.

“Coach Tai tendered his resignation to the national team last August 15 due to an emergency,” Liao said. “He’s thinking of his family that is based in Thailand, he won’t able to concentrate on his coaching.”

“Coach Tai’s kids are still young with one still in high school while the twins are still in grade school."

Bundit was part of the national team's coaching staff behind head coach Arthur "Odjie" Mamon.

Liao also said that it is also doubtful if Bundit will return as the head coach of the Creamline Cool Smashers in the second conference of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) later this year.

"He is still the coach of Creamline but for the second Conference, it will all depend on the situation in Thailand,” Liao said.
