BGC diners will soon have another Japanese dining spot to add to their list as TORIKIZOKU prepares to open its first Philippine restaurant at Serendra on October 12, 2026.

Founded in Osaka in 1985, TORIKIZOKU has grown to more than 600 locations across Japan, building its name around freshly grilled chicken skewers, carefully selected ingredients, and the casual, energetic atmosphere of a Japanese Yakitori-ya. Now, the chain is bringing that experience to Filipino diners as part of its continuing international expansion and Global YAKITORI Family.

At its upcoming Serendra location, the focus will remain on Yakitori and the social experience that comes with it. Rather than simply grabbing a meal, the concept encourages diners to settle in, share freshly grilled food, and spend time catching up over conversation.

The Philippine opening also comes with a distinctly local touch through “Toriki Tayo,” the brand’s invitation for people to turn everyday occasions into opportunities to get together. The phrase plays on the Filipino “tayo,” or “us,” while reflecting the communal style of dining TORIKIZOKU hopes to introduce locally.

Those walking around BGC may have already noticed another sign that the restaurant is on its way.

Torikki, TORIKIZOKU’s bright yellow official mascot, has started appearing on signages around Serendra in different poses inspired by the Philippines and Japan. The installations can be spotted during the day and light up at night, giving curious passersby an early introduction to the brand ahead of opening day.

The signages also serve a practical purpose. Each Torikki installation includes a QR code that leads visitors to the TORIKIZOKU Philippines website, where they can learn more about the brand, receive updates, and make a reservation.
