As the new year settles in, streaming platforms are beginning to map out what audiences can look forward to in the months ahead. For Viu, 2026 opens with a Filipino romance-drama that leans into atmosphere as much as emotion. Officially greenlit for a Q2 2026 premiere, Love, Siargao places a familiar story of connection and conflict against one of the country’s most evocative destinations.

Set on the shores of Siargao Island, the 26-episode Viu Original brings together two of the Philippines’ most recognizable stars, Alden Richards and Nadine Lustre, in their first series as co-leads. Completing the central cast is Korean actor Choi Bo-min, adding a regional layer to a story grounded in local sensibilities.

At the heart of the series is the idea of the “Siargao Curse,” a local myth that suggests visitors to the island either find themselves unable to leave or depart having lost their heart. The narrative follows Jao and Kara, two strangers drawn to Siargao for very different reasons. Their meeting sets off a relationship shaped by opposing principles, personal baggage, and the quiet pull of a place that encourages reflection as much as romance.

Siargao itself plays a central role in how the story unfolds. Beyond its reputation as a global surf spot, the island is portrayed through its everyday textures such as coastal landscapes, a thriving food scene, and small, distinctly Filipino moments that give the setting its emotional weight. Rather than functioning as a postcard, the location becomes integral to the characters’ journeys and the choices they make.

To bring the series to screen, Viu collaborated with Viva Entertainment as line producer. With decades of experience in film and television, Viva supports the production alongside industry partners including GMA Network and Viva Artists Agency. The project was formally introduced earlier this month in the presence of executives and creatives from across these companies, signaling a carefully coordinated effort behind the scenes.

*Love, Siargao* will stream exclusively on Viu and will be accessible via the Viu app, available on the App Store, Google Play, Huawei App Gallery, and select smart TVs, or through its website. Viewers can watch via the platform’s ad-supported free tier or opt for a premium subscription.
