After making a bomb joke at a Manila Light Rail Transit 1 train station, a 31-year-old man was brought to prison.
After his joke provoked alarm among riders at the LRT 1 station in Pedro Gil Street, Ermita, Manila, Leonard Hernandez y Gamboa of Barangay Rivera, San Juan City, was held at the Manila Police District-Police Station 5.
Gamboa entered the railway station at 5:35 p.m. On Saturday, security guard Edison Ilac, 43, reported hearing him exclaim, "May bomba, may bomba (There's a bomb, there's a bomb)."
The yells startled the onlookers, who panicked on the waiting platform of the station.
Ilac chased Gamboa, who was eventually apprehended by police, who were called to the scene.
Gamboa said to the officers, "I was simply making a prank, sir," as he was being handcuffed.
The Manila Prosecutor's Office will bring charges against the jokester for breaking the "Anti-Bomb Joke Law."
