A segment of a bridge in Pilar town, Bohol, collapsed due to continuous rains brought about by a low-pressure area and a shear line.
According to Captain Jojie Sarabosing, chief of the Pilar Police Station, the approach to the bridge connecting a barangay road in the village of Pamacsalan has eroded.
The soil in the bridge's approach began to deteriorate at the height of the downpour, which led to the collapse.
Although no one was hurt, the collapse left a meter-long gap between the bridge and the concrete road.
The same area of the bridge, according to Sarabosing, also eroded during the devastating Typhoon Odette that struck the region in December 2021.
Before the rains brought on by the LPA, which began on Tuesday, the gap had been filled with earth and was already navigable.
In anticipation of local government unit renovations, the road leading to the bridge has been shut down.
