The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a 4.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred on Tuesday morning, December 6, near the agriculturally prosperous province of Bukidnon in Northern Mindanao.
According to Phivolcs' bulletin, the earthquake was felt around 7:54 a.m. The epicenter was located four kilometers northwest of the Bukidnon village of Kalilangan.
The depth of the tremor was only one mile. Intensity IV was reported in the Kalilangan town proper, intensity II in the adjoining Talakag town, and intensity I in the region's capital cities, Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, and Malaybalay City.
A 4.4-magnitude tectonic earthquake also occurred earlier that day in the adjacent Bukidnon town of Pangantucan.
The two earthquakes have tectonic origins.
According to the Bukidnon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), there were no damages or injuries.
