Pinoy chesser wins Estonia chess tourney

Kim Yutangco Zafra, a Filipino, won the Tallinna MK kiirturniiride sari  Chess Championship 2022 on Saturday, Nov. 26 in Tallinn, Estonia.

The European-based Zafra earned 6.5 points in this FIDE-rated event by winning six of her seven games and drawing one while using the increment of 15 minutes plus 3 seconds.

In the first round, Zafra defeated Artur Marton; in the second, Robin Ricco Savipold; in the third, Natig Ispanov; in the fourth, Woman Fide Master WFM Sofia Blokhin; in the fifth; and in the seventh and final round, Vladimir Dukov.

In the sixth round, he and Vjatseslav Garber were tied on points.

The 2022 FIDE World Amateur Championships, held in Malta from October 20 to 30, also featured Zafra as a competitor.
