After defeating Daniel Maciol of Poland 2-0 (4-1, 4-3) in the championship match played at the Puerto Rico Convention Center on Saturday, Carlo Biado of the Philippines has won the lucrative Medalla Light Puerto Rico Open, the final leg of the world 10-ball ranking Pro Billiards Series, and the sizable prize money that goes along with it.
With his most recent accomplishment, the Filipino world champion wins the title and $25,000 in prize money.
Biado completely dominated the four-day competition by winning all nine of his matches.
In the elimination rounds, the former tee boy and caddie at Villamor Golf Club defeated German Ralf Souquet, 2-1; Yukio Akagariyama, 2-0; and Bart Czapala, 2-0, all of Poland.
He defeated colleague Johann Chua 2-0 to begin the knockout round before defeating Taiwanese Ko Ping Chung 2-1 in the last 16.
After defeating 2021, World 10-Ball champion Eklent Kaci of Albania 2-1 in the quarterfinals and Venezuelan Jesus Atencio 2-1 in the semifinals, La Union native Biado continued his winning streak.
In the Predator Pro Billiards Series this season, Biado has won his first individual championship, adding it to the World Team Championship he won in September with Johann Chua and Rubilen Amit.
Biado's victory came shortly after fellow national team member Chezka Centeno, who lost to Taiwanese Tzu Chein Wei in the women's final, came in second place.
