The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its important contributions to the successful implementation of measures to prevent violent extremism in the country.

During the 1st National PCVE Summit held in Quezon City from Nov. 8 to Nov. 9, the DILG awarded the DSWD a plaque of recognition and commendation from the DILG for its continuous support in ensuring the delivery of basic services to address poverty and other social protection concerns.

The summit was conducted to serve as a platform for convergence among PCVE implementers, including DSWD, towards sustaining gains, strengthening impact, and institutionalizing multi-stakeholder efforts on preventing and countering extremism.

The event was attended by various national government agencies, stakeholders, civil society organizations, and representatives of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.

DSWD is the lead agency of the Human Development and Poverty Reduction Cluster under the National Action Plan on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (NAP-PCVE).
