Muntinlupa LGU to 'improve' evacuation, disaster response protocol

4:12 pm on 7 November 2022, Monday

The Muntinlupa City government plans to revise its protocol on evacuation during calamities.

In a statement, Mayor Ruffy Biazon said he has ordered the Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management to form a technical working group that would focus on drafting "improved guidelines" for evacuation.

He gathered personnel from the city government, barangays and the schools division office to discuss the planned improvements in evacuation protocol.

Biazon previously berated evacuees during the onslaught of storm Paeng who allegedly destroyed the blackboard at a classroom, and left garbage scattered at a school's stairway.

The minor who allegedly smashed the blackboard would render community service, and at the same time would be given a "second chance" like continuing his education, he added.

Biazon said during the meeting, city government officials came up with "best practices" that would ensure the safety of evacuees and speed up emergency response.
