Paeng exits Luzon, Queenie enters PAR

A new tropical depression with the local name “Queenie” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.

Meanwhile, the tropical storm Paeng continues to move toward the northwestern boundary of PAR and is expected to exit by Monday afternoon or evening.

As of 4 p.m. on Monday, the center of the storm was seen at 320 kilometers West of Dagupan City with a maximum wind of 85/105 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, the looming tropical depression was seen at 975 kilometers East or Northeast of Mindanao with a maximum wind of 45/55 kilometers per hour.

According to the weather state bureau, some areas of the country will still experience 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is still up in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, western portion of Cagayan, western portion of Isabela, northern, western, and southern portions of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac, Zambales, and the western portion of Bulacan.

PAGASA noted that moderate to heavy rains remains possible over: Batanes, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan (including Calamian and Cuyo Islands).

While light to moderate heavy rains are still possible over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, Babuyan Islands, the rest of Central Luzon, and MIMAROPA.

Due to the surge of the Northeast Monsoon and tropical storm Paeng, marine gale warning remains in effect over most seaboards of Luzon, PAGASA added.

“Paeng may also bring moderate to rough seas over the western seaboard of Visayas. These conditions may be risky for those using small seacrafts,” PAGASA said in a press briefing.

“Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions.”
