Kanye West appeared at Sketchers headquarters in Manhattan Beach, California, unannounced on Wednesday. According to TMZ, the rapper-turned-fashion designer wanted to meet with the executives to discuss potential business opportunities.
Skechers released a statement saying that West was turned away.”[West] arrived unannounced and without invitation at one of Skechers’ corporate offices in Los Angeles,” the spokesperson said.
“Considering Ye was engaged in unauthorized filming, two Skechers executives escorted him and his party from the building after a brief conversation,” the statement read.
“Skechers is not considering and has no intention of working with West. We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech,” Skechers’ statement continued.
“Again, West showed up unannounced and uninvited to Skechers corporate offices,” it added.
Skechers has collaborated with A-List endorsers such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Camila Cabello, including his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
The company is also owned and operated by a Jewish family. Robert Greenberg founded it in 1992, while his son Michael Greenberg is the current president.
In the previous week, Adidas dropped West, 45, as a partner, manufacturer, and distributor of the rapper’s Yeezy shoe brand. Balenciaga and GAP were among the many other brands that had cut ties with Ye.
