The young street-dwelling women footballers from the Philippines gave football powerhouse Brazil a headache in their semifinal duel in the Street Child World Cup 2022 in Doha, Qatar, last October 15.
The underdog Pinays brought the heavily favored Brazil to a penalty shootout after their match ended in a scoreless draw.
During the penalty shootout, the Philippines gave Brazil the final slot after falling 1-3.
Despite the loss, the Philippines is still happy to reach the tournament's semifinals, considered the biggest football tournament among street-dwelling children worldwide, and gave Brazil a scare in their match.
The Philippines got the FairPlay award for their inspiring game in the tournament.
Two players from the team also shared the award for player of the tournament.
