For the first time in five years, the Schonny Winston-led De La Salle Green Archers knocked down their archrivals, the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, 83-78, in Sunday's doubleheader of the UAAP Season 85 men's basketball tournament.

The graduating guard led the Green Archers to their second victory in three games this season with 25 points, five rebounds, and six assists.

With 7.0 seconds left, Evan Nelle's free throws sealed the victory after Ateneo's Forth Padrigao missed the game-tying three-point shot with Ateneo down 81-78.

Meanwhile, on the blue side, reigning UAAP MVP Ange Kouame had a season-high 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Ateneo rookie Kai Ballungay had his best game ever, scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The last time the Green Archers emerged victorious over the Blue Eagles was when they tied the UAAP Season 80 Finals at 1 apiece, 92-83, on November 29, 2017. Since then, they have lost every game while their rivals have won three titles.

The Green Archers is now the league's second-best team, tying with the Blue Eagles with two wins and one loss.
