It's not just players who are being offered an opportunity abroad.

Chris Gavina officially stepped down as Rain or Shine assistant coach to accept the head coaching job for Taichung Suns in Taiwan's T1 league.

The Elasto Painters made the announcement on their social media accounts on Sunday.

Gavina becomes the first Filipino coach to head overseas.

The 43-year old will be coaching the Suns that previously featured Filipino import Jordan Heading, who is now playing in Japan B.League.

The Suns has current Filipino player in KG Canaleta and an import in Tony Bishop, who played for Meralco in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Gavina became the head coach for Rain or Shine in March 2021 before giving way to returning Yeng Guiao on September.
