The dispute between residents of Pangarap Village in North Caloocan and a property firm has deprived inhabitants of basic services, according to the city government.
In a statement, the Caloocan City government said it was “worried” that a road leading to the village has been causing inconvenience to residents.
Personnel from Carmel Development Inc. blocked the road that provides access from inside and outside Pangarap Village by residents.
“Ang isinagawang pagsasara ng kalsada ng Carmel Development Inc. ay maglilimita sa publiko na makapunta sa mga pasilidad ng gobyerno na nasa loob ng Pangarap Village,” according to the city government.
It added that students living outside Pangarap Village would also have a hard time attending classes at Pangarap Elementary School and Pangarap High School with the sealed-off roads.
The city government assured Pangarap Village residents that they would be kept safe and that it would continue delivering government services.
Last week, Pangarap Village residents complained they were seemingly locked up after guards from Carmel Development Inc. put up fences made of bamboo and barbed wire and eventually built cemented blocks to seal the said road.
They asserted that they could no longer afford essential goods like food deliveries and water.
