Both Department of Education (DepEd) and the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) congratulated the Vice-President-elect and incoming Education Secretary Sara Duterte on her Inauguration Day on Sunday at San Pedro Square in Davao City.

“We are enthusiastic to welcome VP Sara to DepEd as the incoming Education Secretary and work with her in proactively addressing the challenges in basic education. Outgoing Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones and her team are eager to assist the Vice President in ensuring a smooth transition of priority education programs and policies, including the Basic Education Development Plan (BEDP) 2030, which can help the incoming administration in implementing further reforms,” stated the Department of Education.

Previously, President-elect Bongbong Marcos Jr. picked Sara Duterte as the Education Secretary under his administration. Duterte then accepted the offer and said that she was thankful for the ‘confidence’ of Marcos Jr. in her to lead.

Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Secretary and Acting Presidential Spokesperson Sec. Martin Andanar also addressed the Filipino people who voted for VP-elect Duterte. He said the public should stand behind the incoming Vice President and other newly-elected leaders.

“We are one with the whole Filipino nation in witnessing with excitement the inauguration ceremony of outgoing Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio as the 15th Vice President of the Philippines.

We once again express our deep gratitude to the Filipino people for the trust and support they have given to the Vice President-elect,” Andanar said in a statement.
