Remulla to confront ‘complex’ challenges as incoming DOJ chief

7:38 pm on 9 June 2022, Thursday

Incoming Justice Secretary Crispin “Boying” Remulla on Thursday will be confronting issues what he called are “complex” at the Department of Justice.

Remulla and outgoing Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday morning met for the transition between the two administrations.

But Remulla admitted they would need another meeting as he acknowledged the complicated issues surrounding the DOJ.

“Sa first meeting ngayon, we might ask for a second one kasi masalimuot talaga ang problema ng systema na kailangan natin isayos. At talaga nakakatuwa naman na bigyan kami ng impormasyon na ukol sa mga suliranin na sumasambalot sa ating hustisya,” the incoming SOJ said.

Remulla however did not specify a problem they would prioritize, saying it is “too long to discuss now.”

“Imagine 11 agencies kasama sa DOJ family so wala simple. So wala isang tanong na pwede masagot, or isang sagot sa tanong na yan,” he said when asked what are the complex issues he was pertaining to.

“Madami talaga. It’s a big work in progress na ating itutuloy at ating ilulungsad ang mga improvements na pwede gawin,” he continued.

It is still unclear when the next meeting would be, but Guevarra had earlier said he will make himself “available to him for consultations in the future.”
