People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) launched a paw-some billboard on Wednesday in Ortigas Center, Cubao, on España Boulevard, EDSA near GMA, Libis, and Katipunan Avenue.
According to Ampon Alaga, PETA's Metro Manila team, the billboard campaign advocated adopting cats to amplify the "adopt-a-cat" month further this June.
"We are encouraging anyone who has space in their heart and home to adopt a cat from a rescue group, or animal shelter," said Ampon Alaga on a Facebook status, Wednesday.
PETA Senior Vice President of Campaigns Jason Baker also stated that animal homelessness had reached a crisis point in the Philippines, where animals are being euthanized every month in municipal pounds.
"PETA is urging anyone with the necessary time, energy, and space to adopt a cat (or dog) from a rescue group or animal shelter," added Baker.
The Metro Manila-based animal rights advocate group reiterated, “adopt, don't shop! give a cat a second chance at a better life.” They highlighted that every time an individual buys a dog or cat from a breeder, online, or pet stores, a stray pet loses the chance of finding a loving pet owner.
