Singapore’s defense attaché visits PHL Army headquarters

The Defense Attaché of Singapore to the Philippines rendered an introductory call to the Commanding General, Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Andres C Centino at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. 


 

The Commanding General welcomed Col. Geajaindren Mariapan as he assured him of the Army’s continuing support to Singapore especially in matters of mutual interest to Singapore and the Philippines. 


 

“We look forward to more collaborative activities in the future as we battle against an unseen enemy," said Centino.


 

"Together, the Philippine and Singaporean Armies will reach a new height as we ensure peace and security in our respective countries,” he added. 


 

Meanwhile, Mariapan thanked the Philippine Army for the warm welcome and for the success of the 9th Philippines-Singapore Army Working Group meeting on July 28, 2021, resulting in 18 bilateral military engagements scheduled to be conducted for the year 2022-2023. 


 

Centino and Mariapan also shared how each country’s Army responded to the COVID-19 and how they approached capability and human resource development during the pandemic. 


 

The officials also discussed possible future Army-to-Army engagements with Singapore that will boost the capabilities of both Armies amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and evolving security landscape in South East Asia.
