In their friendly match at the Estadio Sausalito in Via del Mar, Chile, the Philippine Women's National Football Team struggled to a 1-1 draw with Chile.

La Roja had an excellent start to the game with chances early on, playing against the 38th-ranked team.

Hali Long, the captain, nodded a free kick from Sara Eggesvik past Christiane Endler in the 26th minute to give the Filipinas the advantage.

“We showed a good performance, and we had momentum coming out of Costa Rica,” said Long.

“The big challenge we had out here against Chile was the environment; the team was physical and had great possession of the ball, but we put a good foot forward coming out of the gate and are proud of our efforts here tonight,” Long added.

Long's goal served as the Philippines' catalyst as they came into the game and sought to increase their lead.

Midway through the second half, Quinley Quezada Katrina Guillou came close to making it 2-0 for the Philippines, but Endler's heroics kept the score that way.

Chile scored the equalizer late in the game. Sonya Keefe received a cross from the right side and headed it past Olivia McDaniel from within the box.

The two sides will get together once more at the Municipal de la Pintana in Santiago, Chile, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 (Wednesday morning in Manila).

Team manager Jefferson Cheng, the Philippine Sports Commission, and the MVP Sports Foundation all provide support for the Philippine Women's National Team.
