JRU's John Amores faces physical injury charges

The two College of St. Benilde Blazers players who were punched by John Anthony Amores of the JRU Heavy Bombers filed a physical injury complaint with the San Juan City Prosecutor's Office during the game between his team and theirs.

Taine Davis and Jimboy Pasturan, joined by Blazers head coach Charles Tiu, who served as a witness, filed complaints of serious physical injury against Amores prior to their match versus Perpetual.

"For us, we want to protect our players more than anything. We're a family here and we felt after multiple incidents with the same person, no matter what, he has to be accountable for his actions," Tiu told the media.

"We asked the players to give their forgiveness and understanding for what happened, thankfully they do. Despite that, we have to be liable to the consequences of what we've done that's why they've decided to file, not just for our team but for the sake of all the parties involved even in the past," he added.

Amores knocked down Pasturan and Davis during a punching rampage that culminated in the JRU player's indefinite suspension from the NCAA.

The NCAA has penalized 14 JRU and Benilde players, including Amores, indefinitely, for their involvement in the brawl.

This is Amores' second case, following a complaint filed by the University of the Philippines at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office for hitting Mark Gil Belmonte in a preseason tournament.

According to NCAA Management Committee representative Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, of Letran, Amores was banned for several offenses, including intentionally bumping and pointing at referees, disrespecting Mancom officials and court officials, charging at the St. Benilde team, and throwing punches at four Sangco, Taine Davis, and two other Blazers, Jimboy Pasturan and Migs Oczon.
