In a new tell-all book titled "Maricar," Maricar Reyes, at last, discussed what she later described as the "darkest chapter" of her life.
 
The book revolves around the actress’ "long journey and process of healing" over her 2009 video scandal involvement with celebrity doctor Hayden Kho Jr.
 
The book aims to let women know that there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.
 
"Maricar wants to let women know that they are not alone in their struggles. There is always hope and a way out of any dark situation," the book’s summary reads.
 
Reyes shared via her recent live video on Instagram that it took her 12 years to break her silence over what happened to her in 2009.
 
"It took a long time from 2009 to the start of when that thing happened to me publicly, until 2022. It took 12 years for me to write this book. So sobra siyang meaningful sa akin and it took a long time to heal and process," she said, adding: "If you guys are going through something na mabigat (that’s heavy) or something na mahirap (difficult) and you don’t know how to solve it, there’s really a process."
