Marcos inauguration to be ‘simple, traditional’

5:32 pm on 28 June 2022, Tuesday

President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. opted to keep his inauguration ceremony set on June 30 as “solemn and simple,” his team said Tuesday.

Franz Imperial, one of the heads of the preparation committee, said the program is all set for Thursday, except for minor details still being ironed out.

“The program we have prepared is very solemn and simple. It would be very traditional dahil sabi nga ni BBM sa vlog niya, ‘hindi kami lilihis pa sa tradisyon,’” Imperial said.

In the statement, he said actress and known Marcos supporter Toni Gonzaga will sing the National Anthem, while singer Cris Villongco and the Young Voices of the Philippines choir will perform the inauguration song “Pilipinas kong Mahal.”

There will also be a 30-minute military, civil parade, it added.

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo will administer Marcos’ oath, and the Supreme Court Public Information Office has confirmed the request of Marcos’  camp.

The incoming president is also expected to deliver an inaugural speech although details are yet to be discussed, Imperial added.

Marcos won the highest seat of the land with a historic majority vote of more than 31 million in the 2022 national and local elections.
