Marion Magat is set to return for the NLEX Road Warriors.
The Road Warriors will be sending Mike Ayonayon and Will McAloney to the Blackwater Bossing in exchange for Magat and a future second-round pick.
NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao bared the development, saying that they are waiting for the PBA's approval.
Guiao said that he is thrilled to have the 6-foot-4, former National University standout back since the team needs a big man who can shoot from outside.
"Naghahanap kami ng big men and Marion can help us in that aspect. Naging player ko na rin siya. Naglaro na siya for NLEX so we more or less knew what he could do,” he said.
"Kulang talaga kami sa big men and ‘yung big men namin, hindi malalaki. Maliliit. So nagkasundo kami ng Blackwater,” he added.
Magat last played for NLEX in 2019 before he got shipped to TNT as part of a three-team trade involving Jericho Cruz and Mike Miranda.
He was then involved in a three-team that sent him to Bossings, while Poy Erram was traded away from Road Warriors and joined the Tropang Giga.
Magat averaged 5.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1 block in the previous Philippine Cup, but Blackwater finished as bottom-dwellers with a 0-11 record.
Guiao also said that Mike Ayonayon and William McAloney will also be given more opportunities to flourish in their new team, as they played limited minutes in the last All-Filipino conference.
“This trade is good also for Mike and Will kasi magkakaroon sila ng better opportunity roon,” Guiao said.
