Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and her father President Rodrigo R. Duterte are the top picks of the Filipinos as the next president and vice-president of the country, respectively, a new Pulse Asia survey showed.

Based on the June 2021 Ulat ng Bayan national survey, Duterte-Caprio is the preferred candidate for president of 28% of Filipino adults.

Trailing the Davao City mayor are Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso (14%), former Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. (13%) who are virtually tied as second place. They are followed by Senator Grace Poe (10%).

Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao (8%), Vice-President Maria Leonor G. Robredo (6%), and Senator Panfilo M. Lacson (4%) occupy 3rd place.

Based on the same survey, 62% of Mindanawons would elect Duterte-Carpio if the May 2022 elections coincided with the conduct of the interviews for the present survey.

Meanwhile, President Duterte and Manila Mayor Domagoso found themselves in tight race for the vice-presidential position, with 18% and 14%, respectively

Senate President Vicente Sotto III (10%), Marcos (10%), Pacquiao (9%), Taguig City-Pateros Representative Cayetano (8%), and Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero (7%) share second place.

Duterte-Carpio has yet to decide her future political plans but said that she is open to run as her father’s successor. Meanwhile, President Duterte said people can now consider him a candidate for vice-president “to maintain the equilibrium”.

The survey fieldwork was conducted from June 7 to June 16 using face-to-face interviews.

The nationwide survey is based on a sample of 2,400 representative adults 18 years old and above. It has a ± 2% error margin at the 95% confidence level.
