In Davao del Sur, Hedcor, an affiliate of Aboitiz Power, has successfully powered 2,300 residential connections.

The endeavor is a component of Hedcor's $8,000,000 Energization Project, which collaborates with the Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative (DASURECO).

Hedcor's dedication to paving the way for the province's growth and advancement is reaffirmed by the project, especially in the villages that will serve as its hosts in Barangay Darong and Sibulan in the province's Santa Cruz town.

Many people who live in urbanized areas take electricity for granted, but for the citizens of these communities, being connected to the power grid is a significant step towards improving their lives and strengthening their foothold in the economy, according to Rolando Pacquiao, President and Chief Operating Officer of Hedcor.

He said kids could now study more effectively after school, and parents could keep working long into the evening.

Pacquiao added that Hedcor could empower more Filipinos, particularly those residing in distant areas, to become productive members of their communities and, ultimately, of society by improving barangays' access to energy.

In addition to providing energy, Hedcor provides the electric cooperative with P1 million in annual assistance for its Sitio Electrification and Barangay Line Enhancement initiatives.

Maypearl Laarnie Mangkikis, the DASURECO officer-in-charge, thanked Hedcor for continuing to assist the electric cooperative and emphasized the importance of electrification in improving the lives of the poor marginalized in rural areas.

Through its energization initiative, the Aboitiz Power subsidiary has provided over 4,000 residents in Davao del Sur with access to power since 2010.

A wholly owned subsidiary of AboitizPower is Hedcor. It specializes in using run-of-river hydropower systems to produce renewable energy.

Hedcor oversees and runs 22 hydroelectric facilities in Ilocos Sur, Mount Province, Benguet, Davao, and Bukidnon.

They continue to provide the nation with 278 MW of clean, renewable energy.

Hedcor is one of the top run-of-river hydropower operators in the Philippines, with more than 40 years of experience.
