Kate Middleton will reportedly inherit the "lion's share" from Queen Elizabeth's jewelry collection. However, there is a catch. King Charles's second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, will get to pick first, considering the many appearances and engagements she may need to fulfill as Queen Consort.

According to Ingrid Seward (editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine), these plans were "sorted and organized by the queen some time ago."

She also noted that Bowles will likely take multiple pieces because "she will need a large collection to support her constitutional role."

Queen Elizabeth's accessories are reportedly worth billions of pounds. Every piece of jewelry has a history. The monarch also loaned her jewelry to members of the royal family, such as Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl explained the "pecking order" in an interview with Marie Claire. "There is a hierarchy in all of this," she said.

"The Queen Consort, really, gets first choice of the Queen's jewelry. And after that is Princess of Wales, of course, Kate. The Duchess of Sussex, I'm sure, will come in for some jewelry at some point, but she is much further down the pecking order."
