The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) response teams are now deployed in road sections included in the path of super typhoon “Karding.”

With the passage in Luzon of Severe Tropical Storm "Karding," which is expected to produce heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding and landslides in highly vulnerable areas, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) has been prepositioned and placed on alert status.

DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan said he ordered all DPWH offices in regions that will be impacted by the weather disturbance to prepare teams for landslides and flash floods.

According to a statement from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, quick response teams of 8,963 workers and 1,590 pieces of equipment have been directed to monitor the condition of roads throughout Luzon and Western Visayas.

The DPWH has personnel deployed in all eight regions of Luzon that are expected to be affected by the storm based on its predicted track.

Other customary DRRM Team preparations for Typhoon 'Karding' include tree cutting, drainage declogging, and river clearing along national highways.
