Five people were reported injured after armed men engaged in a mauling and shooting spree inside the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on December 2.
The victims were identified as Aripodin Darayno Mamacuna, ripodin Darayno Mamacuna, Anwar Dimaodin Kiram,Mohaimen Batal Maba.
The fifth wounded victim was one of the suspects who was shot by a responding policeman.
Report from Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office states that the student victim Mamacuna was walking inside campus when he noticed that a group of men were following him. He then proceeded to the MSU grandstand to hide himself, but was caught and beaten up. The other victims pacified the incident but were shot upon by the suspects.
An off duty PNP personnel, who was watching the awarding ceremony of a sports event at the grandstand, immediately responded to the incident that resulted in a firefight.
One of the suspects was hit in the arm. Ths led to the suspects scampering away.
The suspects were identified as Macaraya Saripada Armama, Banjo Saripada, and Rakim Saripada, all of Barangay Rapasun, Marawi City.
The PNP is still establishing the motive of the case, but likewise not discounting the possibility of a gang war.
National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos has already ordered an investigation into the incident.
"We are alarmed by this act of violence displayed inside a campus. I have ordered the concerned police unit to resolve this case at the soonest possible time,” said Carlos.
