Maring agriculture damage up to P2.173 billion

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that Maring damaged 7,399 houses in eight affected regions. Of these, 7,082 were tagged as partially damaged while 317 were reported as totally damaged.


 

Damage on agriculture incurred due to Maring has also gone up to P2,173,030,545.15.


 

The council also confirmed 23 people died and 16 others missing due to Severe Tropical Storm Maring that dumped rains in north Luzon last week. 


 

Fatalities were recorded in the provinces of Ilocos Sur, Pangsinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, Palawan and Benguet.Authorities meanwhile are validating reports that 17 others died, three people were injured and two more people are missing, the NDRRMS said in its situational report on Sunday morning.

 

Maring has also affected 611,705 persons or 155,156 families in the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Caraga and CAR.

 

Infrastructure damage meanwhile is estimated at P1,056,415,288.36, the NDRRMC also said.

 

The government has so far distributed aid amounting to P35,350,349.15 to affected families in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa and CAR regions.
