The negative economic effects of the pandemic have taken their toll on most of our Kababayans for more than a year now since it began. Most of the population has recovered as vaccines are aggressively rolled out in different parts of the country that have contributed greatly to slowly reviving the economy. However, some are still struggling.

An example of this is the modest and hardworking vendors with disabilities of Las Piñas City, which were the hardest hit by the pandemic, who most of them, have permanently closed down their small businesses impacted by the ongoing global crisis.

These vendors rely solely on their livelihood as a means to survive that were severely affected by the ongoing pandemic. The call to assist our Kababayans in these times of uncertainty was considerable and JC Cares Foundation was swift to answer the need to support them.

JC Cares Foundation Inc. believes that every person has the right to have equal opportunity in life, regardless of disability. This is why it is committed to helping our Kababayans, especially those who are affected by the pandemic, in ways it can.

This time, the foundation went to Barangay Pillar Village in the city of Las Piñas to join the Celebration of the 43rd National Disability Prevention & Rehabilitation Week with this year's theme "Kaunlaran ng mga Pilipinong may Kapansanan, Isulong sa gitna ng Pandemya", and provided relief packs to some 70 handicapped vendors.

The JC Cares Foundation team was moved as they learned that these vendors were afflicted with various types of disabilities ranging from Orthopedic, Hard of hearing, Visual, Intellectual, Cerebral Palsy, Psychosocial, and Ortho-Intellectual, and despite being handicapped, still were resilient amid the pandemic.

Proper health protocols were observed including strict implementation of social distancing and wearing of a mask, ensuring everyone's safety as the program went underway.

The foundation gave away essential wellness and hygiene packs which are composed of vitamins, alcohol, hand soap, sanitizers, personal kits, food packs, and other essential needs which the vendors can use to help protect and nourished themselves and combat the ill effects of the pandemic.

The event was held at the Aguilar Sports Complex and was filled with excitement as both the JC Cares Foundation team and its beneficiaries wait eagerly for the distribution of the said relief package.

JC Cares Foundation Inc. continues to plot its calendar with a year-long commitment to helping our Kababayans in need and pledge support in lifting others for a brighter future beyond the pandemic. ###
